History: 

This apple was comes from Indiana around 1876. It is considered a good dessert and cooking apple and keeps fairly well. It has a very firm, juicy flesh with an aromatic flavor that may remind you of the banana, for which it is named.  However, you will not find this apple to taste like a banana.
