History:

While Fuji is considered a foreign apple it actually has American parents, namely the Red Delicious and the antique Virginia apple Ralls Janet.  Breeders in Japan, who found this magic combination, created what is now the No. 1 apple variety in Japan. American in the 1990s have also begun to value this apples' great taste. Its appeal is its low-acid sweetness combined with juicy firm-fleshed crispiness and warm aroma. It keeps longer than most other varieties at room temperature.  Fuji ranks on the world experts' list as No. 5.
