Devil's Plaything. Bad Man's Plaything. Yarroway Color: White (wild), Golden Yarrow (planted) Uses: Yarrow has a variety of medicinal and herbal uses. Its concentration of camphors, oils and aromatics can treat fevers and colds. It is also know to stop or slow bleeding from small cuts, and is soothing for muscle aches and inflammation. In the past, the root was chewed for relief of tooth and gum pains. One saying was that an ounce of Yarrow sewed up in flannel and placed under the pillow before going to bed would bring a vision of the future husband or wife if the following words were repeated: 'Thou pretty herb of Venus' tree, Thy true name it is Yarrow; Now who my bosom friend must be, Pray tell thou me to-morrow.' ---(Halliwell's Popular Rhymes, etc.)
