Tart Cherry Concentrate Questions
/
Our Montmorency tart cherry juice concentrate is a thick, dark syrup with a sharp cherry flavor, and most first-time buyers have the same handful of questions. These are the answers we give by phone and email most often.
How much do I mix?
One serving is 1 ounce, or 2 tablespoons, stirred into 6 to 8 ounces of water or another drink. Many customers also stir it into plain yogurt or oatmeal, or pour it over ice cream. Start with the standard serving and adjust to taste, because the flavor is much stronger than ordinary cherry juice.
How long does a bottle last?
A little arithmetic helps. A 32-ounce quart holds 32 one-ounce servings, so one serving a day lasts about a month. A 6-quart case covers six months, and a 12-quart case covers a full year. Households that use it daily often order the cases. You can see all sizes on the cherry concentrate order page.
Where should I store it?
Keep it in the freezer, both before and after opening. It will thicken in the cold but it will not freeze solid, because the sugar content is so high. Take the bottle out, pour what you need, and put it back.
What does 68 Brix mean?
Brix measures the dissolved sugar in a liquid. One degree Brix is 1 gram of sucrose in 100 grams of solution. A higher number means less water and more cherry. Our concentrate is 68 Brix, which is the highest concentration possible, and that is why a small spoonful goes a long way.
Is anything added?
No. There is no added sugar, no additives and no preservatives. It is 100 percent cherry juice from Michigan Montmorency cherries, concentrated.
Where do you ship and how long does it take?
We ship by United States Postal Service to every state and territory, and shipping is free. Orders usually arrive in 7 to 10 business days. If you are outside that area, call 734.560.2840 and we will work something out.
Can I order a custom size?
Yes. For bulk orders or sizes not listed on the website, email us with your ZIP code and shipping address, or call. More answers are collected on our cherry concentrate FAQ page.
Is there a way to try it as a drink?
Our Montmorency cherry wine, described on the wines page, contains a daily serving of the concentrate in each six-ounce pour. It is a semi-dry wine that goes well with savory meals.
